Originated in western Africa. 3-4′ branched plants produce hundreds of round ½-¾” shiny black berries in clusters. Harvest after berries turn from glossy to dull black. Tasteless when raw and unsweetened, but makes delicious mock blueberry pies and preserves.

Garden Huckleberry seeds are started indoors around the same ?me
as tomato seeds. Transplant out in mid-May to June, with your
tomato seedlings. The small, 1cm (1/2″) fruits begin to set early,
turning from bright green to jet black. These hold on the plant, even
if they appear early in the season.

Originaire d’Afrique occidentale. Les plantes ramifiées de 3-4′ produisent des centaines de baies rondes (½-¾”) noires brillantes en grappes. Récolter après que les baies passent du brillant au noir terne. Insipide lorsqu’elle est crue et non sucrée, mais fait de délicieuses tartes ‘aux bleuets’ et de très bonnes conserves aux myrtilles.
Ensemencement: Les graines de myrtilles de jardin sont plantées à l’intérieur à peu près au même moment que les graines de tomates. Repiquez-les à la mi-mai ou au mois de juin, avec vos plants de tomates. Les petits fruits de 1 cm (1/2″) commencent à se former tôt, passant du vert vif au noir de jais. Ils se maintiennent sur la plante, même s’ils apparaissent tôt dans la saison.
