Flax

Domesticated flax was first grown in China and India at least 5,000 years ago. Flax was widely farmed in ancient Egypt, where blossoming flax was painted on temple walls and mummies were embalmed with linen. Egyptian priests wore only linen because flax was a symbol of purity.
